The Brief:

Johns Associates were appointed by a secondary school in Bath to devise proposals to introduce areas for informal outdoor exercise on their campus.

Our role:

  • Johns Associates suggested an outdoor activity trail with informal exercise stations
  • The design followed our WildFit trail concept, promoting effective and inclusive outdoor fitness in a natural setting
  • The design makes the most of existing natural features, while any introduced or built structures can be constructed easily using local, natural resources, including wood and boulders
  • The trail was not reliant on being fully implemented at the outset – individual stations could be installed when funds became available
  • The design was accompanied by a low-key planting scheme, using native species, to provide additional educational opportunities and a natural setting for the trail
  • We also provided the option of introductory sessions led by our Sports and Wellness consultant

The outcome:

We have submitted our design to the school and look forward to taking them forward in the near future.  Our Sports and Wellness Consultant takes regular fitness sessions with the children on an ongoing basis.
