Case Study: Country Park Allotments

Allotments 1 (2)

Client: Local Planning Authority

Services: ,

The Brief:

A Local Planning Authority appointed Johns Associates to prepare a landscape

masterplan for proposed allotments within a new country park. The brief was to

include provision of allotments to meet with the national and local Allotment

Society guidelines: maximum sustainability and biodiversity provision; communal

storage/meeting facilities both indoor and outdoor; access for all; pedestrian and

cycle access from the wider country park; security gates and parking.

Our Role:

• Initial discussions with local and national representatives of The National

Allotment Society to establish design requirements.

• Preparation of concept design options for discussion.

• Evolution of the design into a number of masterplan options, based on a

varying number of allotments/ infrastructure elements, in order to establish

site viability.

The Outcome:

The production of a masterplan that enables the client to take the project forward to the

next planning stage. The project is on-going.
