Kerry joined Johns Associates in January 2018 and is an experienced Consultant Ecologist. After completing a BSc (Hons) in Ecology of Wildlife Conservation in 2013, Kerry joined the conservation placement scheme with Avon Wildlife Trust and gained experience in all aspects of wildlife conservation including species surveying and practical habitat management. Following this, she spent two field seasons working for Bristol University as a research assistant and two field seasons with a local Ecological Consultancy where she gained valuable experience in protected species surveying.
At Johns Associates, Kerry manages her own portfolio of projects and has recently been involved in a heathland translocation, large-scale mixed-use development and managing the ecological aspects of proposals to redevelop a historic park in central Bath. She co-ordinates the busy ecological survey season and is an experienced field surveyor, undertaking Phase 1 Habitat surveys and a range of protected species surveys -Kerry holds NE and NRW survey licences for dormouse and an NE survey licence for GCN. She has acted as the ecological clerk of works (ECoW) for a wide range of developments and species, keeping accurate site records during works, supervising contractors and delivering comprehensive toolboxtalks. She produces robust ecological reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Ecological Management Plans and mitigation strategies and also handles EPS licence applications. Kerry has a significant amount if experience leading volunteers for a range of ecological surveys and habitat management tasks, including for the Avon Wildlife Trust and at Durlston Country Park.
In her spare time Kerry enjoys exploring new places in her campervan and assisting with a number of national species monitoring programmes.
