Harry Grogan has joined Johns Associates as a Graduate Consultant shortly after completing his degree in Environmental Science at Sheffield Hallam, where he will graduate with First Class Honours.
Harry completed his degree by writing a dissertation examining habitat preferences of UK reptiles, with source data obtained during a sandwich year placement at Johns Associates on one of our flagship large scale development projects in Dorset.
Harry has joined Johns Associates’ Planning and Environmental Appraisal team, but has worked across the business to gain experience of a wide range of environmental skills and projects. His contribution to projects has included:
- Undertaking research to inform work to be undertaken on a Neighbourhood Plan. This has included reviewing and critiquing a diverse range of methodologies and providing recommendations on key project stages
- Undertaking catchment appraisal work for a large water company in requirements under the Natural Environment Programme – multi-disciplinary examination of environmental and socio-economic characteristics of river catchments, and how these influence water quality
- Working with the contracting team to install reptile fencing at a large scale development site
- Working with our ecologists to undertake bat surveys and distribute dormouse tubes
