Tom is a Principal Consultant at Johns Associates, specialising in a broad range of multi-sector environmental appraisal projects that encompass risk assessment, EIA, SEA/SA, and feasibility evaluation. Now a Chartered Member of CIWEM, Tom won the Institute’s south west new members award in 2012. He is currently managing a number of EIA projects including growth of an award winning farm and a new marina, as well as the SA/SEA of a local authority’s Local Plan.

His technical background in integrated catchment management, hydrology and flood risk assessment and previous work at Halcrow (now CH2M Hill) has given him a strong grounding in water and flood risk, as well as a well-stocked technical toolbox including GIS. Tom provides a technical contribution to water and geoscience work and writes Flood Risk Assessments, designs SuDS and produces Environmental Statement chapters.

Tom understands inputs from a range of disciplines, and can synthesise these into something that answers environmental questions from a holistic perspective.

Tom owns a great deal of sports equipment that he would love the opportunity to use a bit more often.
