Client: Private householder

Services: , ,

The Brief:

We were appointed to prepare a flood risk management scheme for a private house and garden that was experiencing regular flooding due to its proximity to a watercourse.

Our role:

  • We suggested a range of measures for the protection of the house, including construction of a floodwall and removable floodgates
  • To compensate for the resulting reduction of flood capacity we worked in close collaboration with the client and the Environment Agency to devise a sustainable scheme that protects the wider parts of the house from flooding and satisfies all parties, whilst working with a Listed Building
  • We managed the planning application Listed Building consent application
  • Johns Associates provided mapping for the measures, which were submitted with the planning application

The outcome:

Johns Associates anticipated and mitigated in advance for potential issues with the planning application, which has been approved.  The works will be carried out later this year.
